There are two types coating of mass: the Equally coated Mass(in
which both sides have the same mass of tin coating) and
the Differentially Coated Mass(in which one side is more heavily
coated than the other )

Food and Beverage Cans:
- Grade Requirements: Tinplate used for food cans must have a thin,
uniform tin coating that provides excellent corrosion resistance.

alkalines, and moisture.
- Material Properties: For deep drawing and stamping, food can
grades of tinplate are typically made from low-carbon steel, which
offers high formability. The material must also meet food safety
standards, ensuring that there are no harmful reactions between the
tinplate and the food inside the can.
- Typical Grades: Common grades used in food canning are T1 and T2
tinplate, which are characterized by high ductility and low carbon
content.
Tinplate is a highly versatile material, combining the strength of
steel with the corrosion resistance of tin. It is particularly
valued in the packaging industry, especially for food and
beverages, where its non-toxic, food-safe properties are essential.
The material’s formability, recyclability, and aesthetic appeal
