Characteristics:
- Corrosion resistance: zinc is chemically active, in the air at room
temperature, the surface generates a thin and dense layer of
alkaline zinc carbonate film, which can prevent further oxidation,
and aluminium in the air, can form a layer of insoluble oxides, in
which the barrier protection function.
- Heat Resistant: Aluminium zinc plated sheets can be used in high
temperature environments up to 315 degrees.
- Reflectivity: Aluminium-zinc coated sheets are highly reflective,
with a heat reflectivity almost twice that of galvanised steel,
making them ideal for use on steel metal roofs to achieve energy
savings.
- Easy to paint: Aluminium-zinc-plated sheets from
aluminium-zinc-plated sheet manufacturers have excellent adhesion
between the sheet and the paint and can be painted without
pre-treatment or weathering.
- The coating adhesion of the aluminium-zinc plating layer is
relatively good, so it can be applied directly to advertising
boards and general-purpose boards without pre-treatment such as
weathering.
Which is More Scratch-Resistant and Durable: Galvanised or
Aluminium Zinc-Plated Light Steel Keels?
Differences Between Galvanised and Aluminium Zinc Plating
Lightweight steel coatings can be classified into two main types:
galvanised and aluminium zinc plated.
Galvanised Coating:
- Customizable Thickness: The thickness of the galvanised coating can be adjusted based on
the specific environmental conditions and functional requirements,
typically ranging from 120g/m² to 275g/m².
- Designation: For example, a Z275 galvanised steel sheet indicates that the zinc
layer on both sides of the sheet weighs 275g/m².
- Physical Changes: Over time, galvanised steel exposed to the atmosphere reacts with
oxygen, causing the surface to darken.
Aluminium Zinc Plating:
- Exceptional Corrosion Resistance: Aluminium zinc-plated light steel offers corrosion resistance
three times greater than pure galvanised steel. It features
attractive zinc flowers on the surface, making it suitable for use
as exterior building panels. The abbreviation AZ150 denotes its
designation.
- Long-Term Color Stability: Aluminium zinc-plated steel maintains its appearance over time.
When exposed to chemicals, a physical reaction forms an aluminium
protective film on the surface, isolating the keel from harmful
substances and preventing rust.
- Mechanism of Corrosion Resistance: The superior corrosion resistance is primarily due to aluminium.
When the zinc layer wears away, aluminium forms a dense layer of
aluminium oxide, protecting the underlying material from further
corrosion.
Outdoor Durability:
- Aluminium zinc-plated steel coils have been tested in various
atmospheric environments for over 20 years. These tests confirm
that aluminium zinc-plated steel provides significantly better
protection for cut edges compared to galvanised steel.
Heat Reflectivity:
- Aluminium zinc-plated mild steel boasts high thermal reflectivity,
nearly twice that of galvanised mild steel, making it an ideal
choice for thermal insulation.
In summary, aluminium zinc-plated light steel keels offer superior
scratch resistance, durability, and thermal properties compared to
galvanised light steel keels, making them a more reliable choice
for various applications.
